Dadah Tahai Soup

MY MOTHER’S DADAH TAHAI SOUP

Whenever I think of my mother’s cooking, I always remember her delicious Dadah Tahai soups. She has always been an excellent cook. Dadah Tahai soup is a traditional food of Kedayan. Some might be surprised by the name of ‘Dadah’. But this Dadah is lawful. They also restore the health of mothers after childbirth, relieving fever and relieve body aches. The name of Dadah Tahai comes when someone eated the Dadah Tahai soup it can addicted and she will going to eat again and again because it feels very goods. It is a simple dish made with a dry fruit skin (asam kulit), onion, chili and salt and only 15 minutes to cooked. My mother’s Dadah Tahai soups taste so good because they are spicy, sour and appetizing smells. It’s will more delicious if eated when them still hot.
Dadah Tahai is very special because its can cooked repeatedly if gravy finished but make sure the tahai fish’s still there and just put a little water and salt. This is because the smells of tahai is very strong and they are so delicious. I have had many other people’s Dadah Tahai soup, but my mother’s have always tasted better. Not only are hers homemade, but they also have a special taste that always makes me think of her.

Dadah Tahai soup is such a simple and common Kedayan food, but it will always be special to me because of my mother.
